Blog like Ben Roethlisberger

Ben_roethlisberger_2Ben who? Ben Roethlisberger. He's the rookie quarterback who led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a best ever 15-1 record last season and was named NFL's Rookie of the Year.

Roethlisberger has been blogging for exactly a year, albeit sparsely at first. Posts reflect his down-to-earth persona, wandering from the current weather in Pittsburgh to cleaning his house to house training his new puppy Zeus. Those posts probably won't be picked up by Sports Illustrated anytime soon but fans love it. One post generated 786 comments, but Ben tries to keep up.

Hillary .. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... Todd ... sorry to hear about your brother ... Lisa ... Zeus is a Rottie ... Marissa Reed ... that's a lot of years for a dog. hopefully there are more good ones to come ... Gina ... my prayers are with your mother ... Ken ... I grew up with Golden Retrievers. What great dogs they are.

Roethlisberger is wisely following the dictum of connecting with readers. Some believe that blog posts must be witty, grammar-perfect and professional. Eh. Roethlisberger proves that blogging works when it comes from the heart.

[Disclosure: I am a fervent Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. I grew up in the Steel City during the 70's and the Steel Curtain. I never miss a game on TV and I own two Terrible Towels.]

Go Steelers! I grew up in Pgh., Sadyside, Bloomfield areas. Remember this, Esliberty for East Liberty? Anyway, I still have fanmily there. My mom is a big, big fan and so am I. I remember the good ol' days of Bradshaw, Lambert, Green, Swann, wow, they were the best. Thanks for the link to Ben's site. Man, you gotta love that kid!

I was a Mt. Lebanon boy.

You night have some towels, but do you have any Iron City beer cans that had the team photos on them?

Josh, I'm from Butler.

And nope, I don't have any IC beer cans. But I remember back in the day, my younger brother used to have those Steeler photo cans lined up on shelves in our basement.

I can't believe it, but I, a Jets fan from way back ( like '69 and B'way Joe in pantyhose ) am a fan of Big Ben and his blog.

Thanks for showing it to us.
